Maggie: On Hiatus

The C&C 37 “Maggie” is back in Kaneohe, having delivered a damaged Pac Cup Vice Commodore Bob Gray back to land. Bob is a veteran offshore sailor, but he injured his back about 24 hours out of Hawaii on the return trip home last week, and Skipper Dave Douglas thought it better to bring him back than to press on.

Here’s what Dave’s wife Margie has to say:

“I talked to Betty (Bob’s lovely wife ) Friday and Bob should be back by now. Betty tells me he has a history of back problems and the middle of the ocean just wasn’t the best spot for him….he was in huge pain and Dave and the crew felt it best that they come on back. (no pun intended). Betty says he’s just fine but needs tons of rest. Dave will fly back leaving Maggie behind for a while and he’s working on getting a return skipper.”

Here’s to a speedy recovery, Bob, and if you want to be reminded of what you’re missing, take a listen to your phone calls from last summer, when you sailed back from Hawaii on board “Trial Run”: http://www.mojosail.com/trial-run-returns-from-the-pacific-cup/
