There’s word China Camp State Park has been rescued from the State Parks closure list – thanks to $250,000 in donations and help from Marin County non-profits and private individuals.

The popular anchoring spot was one of 70 parks set to be closed because of a $22-million budget shortfall (as a bit of perspective, there are several homes in Marin right now with list prices of more that $22-million – enough to solve the whole problem.) The Marin IJ reports the Friends Of China Camp put together the funding, with $40,000 from the Marin Community Foundation, $20,000 from the California State Parks Foundation, and $20,000 from the Marin Chinese Cultural Association. By road or by water, China Camp is great place to visit.
