The Western Boating Safety Group (WBSG) and the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (PICYA) have joined together to offer three $2,500 scholarships. These scholarships are for students whose parents, grandparents or guardian are members of a yacht club that belongs to PICYA.

Applying for the scholarship is simple. There are four things you need to provide, if one item is missing, the application will be disqualified.
1.Completely fill out the application form.
2.Enclose an official transcript from your school.
3.Write an essay of approximately 300 words.
4.Provide a written statement of need.
5.Send the above four items (one page per item) to:

You may pick one of three topics for the essay:
1. Mandatory boater education concerns and solutions
2. Improvements for the Bay and Delta waterways.
3. Community service or volunteer work
The criteria the Scholarship Committee will use is based on your:
1.Academic/Scholastic records
2.School involvement
3.Community involvement
4.Essay
5.Statement of need
6.Other supportable documents
The deadline is June 30, 2012. All applications MUST be postmarked by the Post Office, no later than June 30, 2012.
The scholarships will be awarded on November 5, 2012, at the PICYA Awards Dinner Meeting at Encinal Yacht Club.
Relatives of PICYA Board Members or Scholarship Committee Members are not eligible.
